What is trichology?
So glad you asked! Trichology is the para-medical science of hair, hair loss, and associated scalp problems. It encompasses the study of the diseases of the human hair and scalp, as well as the assessment of the cause(s) and treatment of these disorders.
Ebony 'Khavoni' Roberts is a certified trichologist and specializes in the health of the hair and scalp. Ebony looks at hair loss problems in a holistic way by evaluating clients on the basis of personal history, lifestyle, genetic factors, and environmental conditions. Ebony will be able to suggest individualized treatments, give nutritional advice and recommend lifestyle changes to improve the health and appearance of the hair and scalp.
Your physician should also be willing to work with your trichologist with respect to taking and analyzing blood tests that your trichologist suggests.

Alopecia Areata
Sudden hair loss that starts with one or more circular bald patches that may overlap. Alopecia areata occurs when the immune system attacks hair follicles and may be brought on by severe stress. The main symptom is hair loss. Treatment may address any underlying conditions and includes topical scalp medications.
Telogen Effluvium
A reversible condition in which hair falls out after a stressful experience. The stress pushes large numbers of hair follicles into a resting phase. Within a few months, those hairs can fall out. Types of stress can include surgery, childbirth, and serious illness.
Seborrehic Dermatitis
A skin condition that causes scaly patches and red skin, mainly on the scalp. It can also occur on oily areas of the body, such as the face, upper chest, and back. In addition to scaly patches and red skin, seborrheic dermatitis can cause stubborn dandruff. Treatment involves self-care and medicated shampoos, creams, and lotions. Repeated treatments may be necessary.
Hair loss is the main symptom.
In many cases, no treatment is needed and the hair often grows back when the stress goes away."
